YAY for you.
I posted little during lent but lurked alot,LOL.
Lent was a pretty good time here. I learned a lot about my kids and their religion. How they keep it, what they know, what they are curious about etc.
I didn't give anything up. I prefer to do something instead of not doing something. So stepped up my random acts of kindness, I called ppl I hadn't heard from in a while and tried to spread the Good News as I know it. I kept the fast and meat restrictions. We prayed as a family and attended as many services as we could together.
One thing I am so happy about is bring a new family to church. A friend on my block expressed interest in my parish and I kept giving as much info and encouragement as I could. Well it seemed to cool off so I told her that I would always ask when I was on my way to church if she wanted to go. Well she came with us on Good Friday! She and her two small girls. We sat with them in the pew my girls and I on one side and two of my boys on the other. Dh and my other son sat in the pew behind them. We helped them get through the service by pointing out where they should be in the missal. It was so nice. I hope they come more regularly. I will continue to offer support.

Three of the things I gave up during Lent happen to be food related: my weekend donut(s), Rhode Island Lighthouse Coffee IceCream (love that stuff!) and Lifesaver mints. Dh and I always stop at the drive thru on Sat. mornings before errands for coffee and usually a donut or a few donut holes. THEN...my most favorite donut in the whole world is a chocolate covered raised donut that are part of the donuts/coffee my parish has every Sunday morning after each of the Masses. For a number of years now I've given up that donut and just had coffee. The Lifesaver mints over the last few years have become something dh and I both always have in our pockets. Didn't have one of any of that stuff for all of Lent. I can't say that I felt while doing it that it was especially hard, but boy did I enjoy that first bowl of RI Lighthouse coffee ice cream on Sunday. And also bought myself a donut at the grocery store to have on Sunday morning LOL. I actually forgot all about the mints until yesterday I spotted the one that's been sitting in front of me on my computer desk for all of Lent, and had that one. It was pretty good (but not as good as the donut or the ice cream LOL).
Kelly don't worry about the ice cream you ate that night before you suddenly remembered LOL.
Thanks for the encouragement Cindy.
