Just got back from Mayo

for Sam's follow up MRI on his brain tumor. And we continue to have good news. The tumor is smaller!! That explains why he is doing so well. No more headaches, sleepless nights, vomiting, etc. It about half the size. The DR.s at Mayo still don't know what it is and said they probably won't ever know. We did also see an Infectous Disease Specialist along with our Surgeon and Oncologist. He couldn't give us answers either. The cells on his tumor have characteristic of some kind of infection (and for sure not cancer) but have never seen anything kind of infection that would cause a golf ball size tumor on a 6 yr old. They decided to not do anything right now. Just monitor it. No surgery, no steroids, no spinal tap. We go back in 3 months to make sure its going away or hopefully by then gone.

We had a very long day. Sam's MRI took 2 hours. He was sedated of course and did so good. He is such a trooper through all of this. And you want to know what he said when he heard the good news that its smaller? He said, "God is making it go away because I'm such a good boy". Outta the mouths of babes, huh?

I also relate it to the power of prayer. Thats to all of you for all your prayers for Sam. We really appreciate it. I feel like I've won the lottery! Life is GOOD! Praise God!

Glad to hear the good news! Hope I wasn't too confusing in my last post. My mind seems to be in places that definitely aren't on your side of the world! Need to go to therapy!

Hi,

I'm so sorry to hear this about your son (that he has a tumor). That's great that it's getting smaller. May I ask, did he receive the sacrament of the sick? If not, it will help.

I'll keep your son in my prayers.

Yes, he did. He received the annointing of the sick from the Priest at Mayo the night before his biopsy. Of course he didn't really understand what the big deal was but he was really good about it and even prayed the Lords Prayer with him. It certainly did help. It helped all of us that were there and mostly Sam. I can't believe how blessed we are and I have definitley seen God's glory up close and personal.

thanks for the prayers!

Carmen
