Was anyone else as moved by that Funeral Ceremony as I was Friday Night?

I saw parts of the state funeral, but missed the California ceremony. We had a baseball game at the same time, or I probably would have been watching it.

Ronald Reagan was probably my most favorite president. I remember the 70's. Then he was elected. I was a sophomore in HS at the time. For the first time in my memory, it was "cool" to be an American. The Iranian hostages being released shortly after he took office.

He made the world a better place. He made my family's lives better with changes in the tax structure that allowed us to inherit some family land without insurmountable tax consequesnces.

He was a good and decent person. As I watched the state funeral and saw Bill Clinton sitting there, I couldn't help but wonder how he would be eulogized.

I think Nancy did a wonderful job this week. I can't imagine speaking at my parents' funerals, but I think at my grandmother's funeral there were probably some kids who could have spoken - she had 8 surviving. Her funeral was not an overly sad occasion - she had had quite a few health problems the past few years and lost her DH over 30 years ago (in an auto accident) and a daughter nearly 20 years ago (to pancreatic cancer), so there was a sense of her going on to something better.

My 2 cents.

Karen

I do tend to agree with you on all your points.
