I would like to know if I can change the godmothers of 2 of my children. I need to call our church, I know, but it is kind of sensitive topic, and the people at our church know us well, and I'll admit, I am a little uncomfortable about doing it.

Its a very long story......but we are being maliciously threatend with a lawsuit by them and I already feel horrible enough about not seeing this side of their character to begin with, but I have 2 baptism certificates reminding me of the people I wrongly trusted and loved who seem to now have serious moral and ethical voids.

If I sound upset, its because I am. Man....you think that you know someone. I just would prefer not having them involved in our lives in any way.

Oh, my heart breaks for you. I have no clue if you can change godparents. My BIL is my DD's godfather, but he never even sees her, much less acknowledges that he is her godfather. Her godmother lives out of town, but her other aunt fills in. I pray that even if things don't get better, that you will have the strength to do whatever you have to do.

I'm Baptism Coordinator at my parish. Unfortunately official godparents cannot be changed. It may be that they won't want to be involved in your children's lives, considering the circumstances?? You could find other more suitable role models of the faith for your children however, though their names would not appear on the baptism certificate.

Hi...I feel your Ache! We are having our 3rd Child baptised in June and before he was born, our plans were to have a couple/friends of ours be the godparents. Kind of because we are the godparents to one of their kids so we wanted to return the respect. Anyway, they (especially the Wife/my Friend) are sharing more and more woes with me like thoughts of bankruptcy and lies they have been living since we basically have known them. I have time on my side to change the godparents all together but I really don't want to hurt their feelings and feel mean in any sorts about it with them...((Hugs)) Keep that Faith alive and try to overcome it!
