Great ideas! I know a dentist here who is buying candy to donate to the troops too. Here are two other ideas from our school/parish, although they would be a bit involved to set up from scratch:

1. Our church puts together care packages for parish members who are in college and sends them during exam week. They accept candy donations.

2. My kids social justice club donates candy in exchange for fair trade chocolate, and then gives the collected candy to a meals program.

Personally, I'm saving some stuff that won't get stale for St. Nicholas Day.

These are all such wonderful ideas, Lisa!

Ian's school has requested all of our extra candy to be sent to the school. It was going to be sent to a local dentist for distribution.

I actually wound up returning a huge bag of candy to the store over the weekend. I had a feeling I bought too much, so I set aside the biggest bag to see if we'd need it. It turned out I was right about not needing it, so it went back. We still have a ton of candy from the kids' TOT. I think we'll be making a donation too.
