My best friend in the world (30+ year friendship) has been a cloistered Poor Clare nun for about the past 10 years or so.

That's wonderful, that you're able to spend two days with her!

At the Anglican Benedictine monastery I've stayed at, the cost of a weekend is $160 for the room and meals. There is no retreat program (they charge $220 for a weekend retreat with a program), although guests are invited to join in the monks' praying of the Divine Office.

Other private retreats I've done in other retreat houses, where I'm sleeping and eating there but not attending programs, have been $150-175 for Friday dinner through Sunday lunch.

Hope that helps. And sorry to hear about your husband's job, taxes, medical, and all the other stuff - somehow I missed that. Prayers for all of it.
