My Introduction
Wed, 07-15-2009 - 8:53pm

Hi Everyone ~

I decided to come out of lurkdom and introduce myself. I have visited a few times and read some of the posts but never felt compelled to post anything myself.

Well today, is the day.....

I am Jennifer (35; Cradle Catholic) and I am married to my DH Eric (41; raised Baptist now Born Again Christian). We have been married for almost 2 years and it has been a tough road. Between the two of us, there are 4 teenagers. My DD (17) and DS (16) and his D (19) and S (17).

The living arrangements are not ideal, but this is what we have going on:

DD lives with me 100% of the time. My DD is fully initiated into the Catholic Church having made her Confirmation about 2 years ago.

DS lives with dad primary and is with me for summer and holidays as defined in the custody agreement. My DS chooses to express his personal belief in Christ, but decided he likes the Non Denominational Christian Church over the Catholic Church (I am okay with this so long as he practices).

Skids think I am the devil and therefore refuse to come around and instead live with their mother 100% of the time only contacting their dad when they want something (usually money). Skids are both self proclaimed non believers.

Looking forward to getting to know you.....

**but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.  Isa

Glad to see you join us here. Pardon the late hour of my response. Between the extreme sciatic pain I'm having, and some stress from the ds16, I have not gone to bed yet. It takes me a while to unwind and so I'm here catching up on the board.
I'm Trish (we've met elsewhere lol) and I have dh of 14+ years, ds16, ds14.75, dd7 and the Stowaway, aka Thumper, due in September if we can hang in there together that long. I'm a cradle Catholic, married to a Southern Baptist. The boys went through RCIA for children, and dd7 was just baptized a couple weeks before her 7th birthday in order to avoid the need for her to do RCIA as well. The kids weren't baptized previously because at my old parish the priest told me since dh and I weren't married in the church, the kids couldn't get baptized. I didn't push the issue and figured they'd all do RCIA instead. My current parish takes a different stance on it and encouraged me to baptize dd before she reached age of reason etc. My oldest rejects anything having to do with any church. He was living with my MIL in another state for a year and a half and that branch of the family doesn't attend church. When he DOES come to Mass, he seems like he's at home there but I don't let on that I sense this. I had to return of my own accord, as does he. I just continue to pray that he's guided with a Divine Hand to direct him where he's supposed to go.
With help from some friends at church, my younger son has gone from being a garden gnome in the bushes during Mass and playing at the retention pond, to now serving as Usher/Greeter at Mass. I specifically stayed out of that one, and let God and my friends work together. I've been a lector for about 4 years, and absolutely love it, but will be taking a break from that service for a while after I have the baby. DD7 used to sit with the choir but that was only because her friend was there. The friend moved back to Wisconsin to live with her mother, so dd now sits back in the pew with us.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Welcome to the group, Jennifer! I'm glad you made it. :)

I'm Jen. I've been married to my high school sweetheart for the past 7 years (together for 14). We have two kiddos: Ian (age 5) and Lucy (17 months). In 2001, I completed the RCIA program and joined the church. I still feel like a baby Catholic, but I have learned so much just by being on this board. We've got a great group! I hope you feel at home with us.
