Omg. Pope Benedict Resigned

I got up for work. Am watching the news while I drink my coffee. They just made the announcement. I guess it had to do with his health. I'm sure more will be on throughout the day. I guess resignation effective February 28th.

I heard the news on the radio this morning while taking the kids to school. The radio report said that this is the first pope to resign in 600 years. Ian was full of questions after we all heard the report.
I think it is admirable that he admitted he was no longer able to do the job. Now there is time to look for his replacement and he may even be able to help out as an advisor or something.
I heard about it first from a phone call from my father, then read all the articles on line (Life News, EWTN.) I am happy with what he has done as Pope, and hope a good successor is chosen. If his health was failing, it was wise.
I completely agree. I was quite shocked when I found out, but I think it is very wise of him to step down if he is unable to do the job.
Regarding the resignation of the pope. It is important to remember that since 1480 there have been no resignations until now. I wonder what kind of reason lies behind all this.
