This is a bit of a rant not over priestly celibacy itself, but how the media treats it - or maybe I just should say, how the media attacks it! This morning's paper was yet another column by one of our local (nonpracticing Catholic) columnists. She's seems to always take great delight in writing stories that can put the Catholic church in a bad light.
This morning's story was about the recent Father Albert Cutie who left the Catholic church last week (for the Episcopal Church for now as a layman in that church)after the highly publicized story of his involvement with a divorced woman in FL. One line in this particular column today really jumped out at me......"is the latest clergyman to reignite the debate over celibacy within the priesthood and call rather heart-breaking attention to the unreasonable demands the church places on its priests.
