Question about the Eucharist

I was thinking today about my son's First Communion coming up next Sat and how I need to go over with him what he needs to do. Then I thought, are they going to offer the Blood of Christ. I am assuming no since there has been no discussion of it. I'll ask on Monday at CCD. Which then had me thinking, when was the last time I was offered the chalise? It's been so long that I cannot remember. It may have been offered at a High Mass when the Bishop came to our parish, but I am not sure. Why is this being left out so much now? Receiving both the Body and Blood of Christ is a very strong memory of my First Communion.

The chalice is always offered at my church, and at other churches I've visited in this diocese. Could it possibly have something to do with not having enough Eucharistic Ministers?

First Communion is one of those special Masses where Communion should be offered under both forms. I would suggest that you ask on Monday and prepare him for the reception of the Blood of Christ from the chalice. Is Communion offered only under the form of bread on Sundays at your parish?

Yes it is. At least if it's offered, I must be going at the wrong times. In the year that we've been here I have not seen both and I don't recall seeing it but once in the 8 years that I was at our previous parish, same diocese.

We receive both every week. I've lived in some parishes/dioceses that do it once a month. But in this diocese, every week is the norm.
