Hello Ladies,
I don't mean to barge in on your boards but was hoping to get some help. I am not catholic but my DH's grandparents are. My DH's grandmother is passed away and we are in town for her funeral. The wake is tonight at the mortuary. We have 5 little ones and I just wanted to know if they are allowed to be there. I also was wondering what type of attire is appropriate for the wake. I am assuming sunday best. Thank you for you help.

Children are welcome at the funeral home for the wake, the church for the funeral and the cemetery for the burial. Children seem to bring a sense of joy to such events.... just be prepared for their questions about the casket, etc.....

I am so sorry for your family's loss. I just saw your post, so I know you've already attended the funeral. I hope it went as well as can be expected. If you have any other questions for us, feel free to pop in and ask! :)

Between a new baby in September, and a lot of extra work this past month, I haven't been on the boards at all lately.
When my mom died in 2005, I took my then 3 kids to the rosary/viewing, and my younger son opted not to go to the funeral, but we took the oldest son and our then 3 year old dd. They did ok and weren't out of sorts or obnoxious.
You're not barging in by any means either. We're glad to answer questions if it helps.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
