...What is the significance of knowing that our Catholic Church has a Liturgical Calendar, broken up between Ordinary Time, Advent and Lent?!...A friend of mine and I talked about this subject the other evening.

Unless you are involved in the liturgical life of the Church, other than one hour a week Sunday Mass. You may not know the details of the calendar. I think that the children did good to know Advent, Lent, OT and they probably know the liturgical colors. Would we expect them to know Eastertime, Christmastime, Rogation days and Feast days, the Triduum, Corpus Christi, Christ the King, Epiphany or Gaudete Sunday? Most adults would not unless they were using the Liturgy of the Hours everyday. Today is the feast day of St. Francis Borgia.
