I took Ian for registration yesterday.  That really hurt.  They were able to keep tuition the same this year, but they drastically increased the registration fees.  We didn't get much advance notice about the increase either.  The notice came in the mail just a week ago with the registration paperwork.  I don't even want to think about how much the initial fee is going to be next year when Lucy starts attending.  Ouch!

Our school gives priority to parishioners. I think the order goes parishioners, returning students, new students with siblings who are current students, non-parishioners, non-Catholics. I'm not sure if there's an application for non-Catholics, though. I guess that would make sense.

Enrollment is down now, so I really don't see them turning anyone away. The preschool is always full, though,.

It sounds like tuition is about the same here.  For parishioners, it's just under $3k.  For non-parishioners, it's just over $3k.  There are multiple child discounts, too.  You don't get a break on the registration fee, though.  If they keep the registration fee the same for next year, it will be over $1k in one lump sum just to sign them up.

Wow! That's pretty short notice. Things are pretty different here in Germany. School doesn't have tuition, but you file your taxes as a Catholic and they deduct a fixed sum directly from your salary to cover church expenses. They still pass the collection plate, too, though.

I was surprised to hear that the school where we used to live gave priority to Catholic students and had a limit for non-Catholics, who also had to apply to get in. The secular schools there weren't nearly as good. I'm not yet sure if all Catholic schools here are that way or just in that city/diocese.
