When I went to Catholic school (in the dark ages) I had 5 blouses and 2-3 jumpers... that's all I needed uniform wise... I know nowadays there are so many options it's barely a uniform anymore but more like a dress code

Yay for you that you're going through with the catholic school direction for your kids, Jen.

My boys wear blue pants and white shirts. If I were you I would start with 3 pairs of pants and 4 short sleeve and 4 long sleeved shirts and see how that works. If he can wear colors other than white, you may need fewer, but I can't imagine going with fewer than 3. My kids can't keep white shirts clean, so sometimes they have more than that. (I say "sometimes" because sometimes they manage a bunch wear out at once or they suddenly go up a size, and then we slowly build up the supply again. Right now my son insists he only has 2 short sleeve shirts,

Yes, I agree that sweatpants under a skirt would look weird.

I've heard the same thing about some schools, that it's more of a dress code than a uniform.
