Name/family/pets:
I'm Jen, mom to Ian (age 5) and Lucy (18 months). I've been married to Brian for the last 7 years (together for 17...yes, we've been together for more than half our lives...crazy to think about!). We have no pets, but Ian is desperate for one. I think we'll get him a fish sometime in the very near future and see how he does.

Locale:
We are in the Chicago area.

What is your favorite part about the fall season?
I love this time of year. Early fall is my favorite. We woke up this morning to cool 60-ish temperatures. I can't wait for the hay rides, corn mazes, and pumpkin patches. OH! And trips to the apple orchard. I love the apple orchard. I am also a huge fan of jeans and sweater weather. Plus, I have a pair of great boots I bought at an end-of-season sale that I haven't gotten a chance to wear yet. Now, the temperature is almost perfect for such footwear! ;)

I'm Sofia, married for 16 years to Michael, and we have 4 kids (2 boys and twin girls). My oldest will be 11 on September 15, my middle kid (Justin) just turned 8, and my girls turn 6 on September 10. We also have 2 cats, a guinea pig and tropical fish.

I live in the Northeast.

I have a hard time with Fall. I get SAD in the Winter (Seasonal Affective Disorder), and to me--Fall means darker days, colder days and the approach of Winter. It is also melancholy with everything dying or going to sleep in nature. All the pretty leaves are nice, but then they fall and the trees are barren; the birdsong stops and the insect noises stop. It's so still, except the geese flying south. I don't really like Fall. . . But I do like Thanksgiving and Christmas, so that's something to look forward to!

Trish with DH of almost 15 years (together 17 years though), ds16, ds14, dd7, and Thumper due the 23rd, but feeling like she wants to exit sooner than later.

We're in Florida, and I've welcomed the cloud cover and rain, as it means my underinsulated house with an overtaxed AC system is more comfortable.

Fall...hmmm it's generally less blazing A hot and humid. It has been known to be hot till the end of October or even later here so it could be that way again this year too. This year though, Fall means the growing a human thing progresses into caring for said human. At least I can foist her off onto her daddy, her siblings, or some friends happy to get a baby-holding fix.

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I'm Kelly, soon to be 47yo, married for 19 years to DH (but celebrating 27 years together this Oct. 30). We have 2 daughters who are 17 (a senior in Catholic HS) and 14 (a freshman in public HS), and 1 son, 9yo (4th grade). No pets. We used to have fish, guinea pigs, and hamsters, but after the last guinea pig died, we were all kinda through with taking care of pets.

We live in the northeast, where fall is BEAUTIFUL! I love the feeling of excitement for school in September, the weather of October, getting ready for Thanksgiving in November, and Advent in December. I love how the fabrics of clothing get richer, getting dressed is easier, and personal grooming requires less work as I get more covered up. :)

LOL, Kelly! I'm a big fan of the less grooming part too. And I love my fall wardrobe. Boots and sweaters and jeans and cool jackets... *sigh*

Barb, your list of smells is making me hungry! I have a new recipe for pumpkin cream cheese muffins I might have to take a stab at for tomorrow morning. I love the way anything pumpkin smells while baking.
