A good Catholic friend of mine let me borrow her copy of The Shack.
Is this the novel by William Young?
I read "The Shack". There were things about the book that I really liked - like forgiveness, but other little things that I didn't like - like Jesus didn't start a "church" and that organized religion and rules were not what he wanted. I guess I saw those as slaps against the Church. I think it ended abruptly, not really totally dealing with the older daughter's feelings of guilt over the death of her sister. But in general, I liked it. It's been long enough now that I've forgotten the specifics. (Grandma-brain! LOL)

Mom to: Madeleine, James,
My sister read this book and really liked it.
The Shack seems to be one of those books that most folks either love or hate......

I haven't read it. I read an excerpt on Amazon, and I can tell that I wouldn't be able to get past how it is written. A lot of allegories, as well as a lot of religious books, put message before style, and I think that may be the case here. It seems to be a book that has created quite a buzz though. I'd love to hear more opinions.
