Your favorite image of Jesus

I was reading something about adoration yesterday, and the article suggested focussing on a particular image of Jesus.

Which made me think about what MY favorite image might be.

The shroud (sp) has always sort of fascinated me.

This is one of my favorites - The Risen Christ by the Sea

I've had two of the 8 x10's for a number of years now that I use at church during the Easter season. One year someone even "borrowed" the one I had on the bulletin board in the church hall. I was really concerned when I first noticed the blank spot where it was missing. A few weeks later I ran into another woman who was putting it back up (!!) and she said there had been a woman in a particular church group that had "borrowed" it, because she loved it so much - she had never seen a picture of Jesus with teeth!! LOL

I don't know if *I* have a favorite image, but there are two that are forever etched in my subconscious.

My previous parish had the first "Laughing Jesus" image that you posted in the gathering area.

The Sacred Heart is one etched in my mind too. The nuns at my grade school always seemed to have Sacred Heart pictures.

The other one that I remember is what I call "Hippie Jesus." It was everywhere when I was growing up in the 70s -- particularly on prayer cards and on cheap placques. I never see him anymore. I'm quite fond of Hippie Jesus.

Neat question... I would have to say Divine Mercy

I first heard about the Divine Mercy at a women's group in TX. I then experienced it again in Korea where a group of us gathered each week to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet.... and finally while stationed in Germany I had the opportunity to go to Poland and actually be in the chapel where Jesus appeared to Sister Faustina. I was able to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet right there... now granted most folks were praying it in Polish, I just whispered along in English.. it was a very moving experience

This is a great thread! Thanks for starting it, Karen! I have loved reading about, and looking at, all the amazing images.

I'm going to share a few of mine. . . The first one is an Eastern icon of Christ Pontocrator, but I think it is very beautiful and spiritual, and I have a copy of it that I use to pray with.

The second is famous classical art. IMHO, no one depicted Christ the way Rembrandt did!

And the third is an image of Jesus hugging a little girl. It just speaks to me. Probably because the dark-haired little girl in me can relate to it ;)
