Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day

Yom HaShoah begins tonight. This is a solemn remembrance of the Holocaust. Have any of you been in Israel on this day? I understand that *everything* stops when the siren is sounded, even people driving their cars pull over.

I was reminded last Shabbat how real and relevant this still is for so many people. A woman in my congregation has Yizkor for her mother on Yom Hashoah, because she died in Auschwitz.
