I have 3 girls. They are 4 1/2, 3 (in a few weeks) and 5 months......My oldest daughter just wont or doesn't PLAY!!!! Like a conventional child and it DRIVES ME NUTS! It clashes with the play of my almost 3 yo and disrupts the whole household all the time!

IMHO, maybe she's missing mommy-time?

To me it just sounds like she had different interests. Bugs and leaves just may be really cool to her. So she doesn't like dolls...if she likes taking them apart maybe find toys that she can build with and then take apart. Does she have any interest in legos, lincoln logs, construction sets??

Oh yeah I LOVE that she into science stuff ect....she has a buggy catcher and container ect....building things ect....she does LOVE her dolls as well....very well rounded little girl she just doesnt PLAY with ANYTHING be it be it bugs or dolls....she just makes messes and fights and fits and fusses.....she doesn't even make her parades or all her animal figures anymore or her horses.....at this point I would have to literally buy ALL NEW TOYS.

what about throwing games? A set of bean bags and a hula hoop (if you already have one) might be inexpensive - and could be done indoors or out. Or something that IS messy (finger painting?) or mean to be taken apart...? Logan loves doing things like cutting paper... its deconstructive.. but relatively harmless. We also do a lot with playdough -

I was always annoyed that Logan doesn't like to play with building blocks.. so we have a game where I build the blocks into towers and he uses the ball pit balls to knock it down. :) Its pretty fun...

Yeah Painting and playdough are used almost every day.....but I do like the idea of more "action" packed type play items:)
