We will be staying home and bbq. I have invited bil and his family but since I had to leave the message on their answering machine I don't know if they are even going to be around this weekend.

Before we had kids and before we moved away from our parents we use to head to their houses for a family bbq and then would watch the fireworks that their city put on. They lived about 2 hours from where we did and it was no big deal to head there. Then we had Philip and it became a production to go any where with a small baby. Now it just takes too long so we can't do small quick trips for things like this.

That sounds like a fantastic 4th of July party! I love how it is so family and friends oriented.

Ah...the 4th of July. One of my most favorite holidays! Dh and I put on a big party and (of course) a "show" for all the neighbors! We had our first barbecue and fireworks show the first 4th we lived here (6 years ago) and apparently it was such a big hit that now our neighbors look forward to it every year!! LOL we can't get out of it now!!! LOL. Typical 4th...Big barbecue, LOTS of food, everyone brings a side dish of some kind, we (DH lol) is responsible for the meat and grilling part. Everyone chips in for the fireworks and my DH and his best buddy put on one heck of a show for everyone! All the kids (who are old enough) get sparklers, and the little ones get glow sticks to run around with.

Our 4th hasn't changed at all since having kids...except, we have WAYYYYY more fun now!!!! I love to see the kids eyes when the fireworks are going up, they are in such awe of it all.......it makes it all
