Here's how we think it happened. The storm hit at about 10:00, pre spring-forward. Heavy, and I mean heavy, amounts of hail violently fell for a good 20 minutes. There was mounds of hail in our landscaping. Prior to he hail fall, I heard my car alarm go off during torrential rains. Dh went to the garage and pressed the trip button on my key ring to shut it off figuring the hellacious winds and rains tripped the alarm (not unusual). I then joined him downstairs at about 10:20 and the hail was full force. As I mentioned it went on for about 20 mins. After about 15 mins post storm, I wanted to assess any damage to my car so I opened the garage door and I saw my interior light on in my car. Baffled, I went further to investigate and saw the passenger door ajar and my window "down." I looked inside and the violators had ripped the interior of my dash out to get to my stereo.
There wasn't enough hail inside the car to indicate that this had been prior to the hail storm. This was definitely post hail storm or during the storm. (I think I just missed them.) I immediately called the police to have a report completed. While dh waited for the police, I got in his truck and drove around the neighborhood to find the little sh*ts who'd AGAIN violated us (we'd heard voices in our alley easeway down a few houses). Lo and behold, I found a little party gathering about 5 houses down...average age 19. My gut told me that these were likely the perps. I had a few choice words and told them that if they did this and I find out I'm prosecuting their sorry butts. I WAS LIVID!!!! I drove around the block again and more of the little sh*ts were out front, I noticed one guy imparticular wet and avoiding eye contact with me. I had a few more choice words. I drove around again and they were scattering like roaches with the light coming on in their expensive vehicles (brand new mitsubishi, brand new Ford 150 pickup) more than likely purchased by their parents who can't be bothered. Such typical well to do burb kids. I wrote down license plate numbers and makes of cars as fast I could. I then went back home to deal w/the police officer. He (the police officer) was shocked that this happened during the hail storm. We all feel certain it's a local, and I mean local, thieving ring. We were being cased and a window of opportunity presented itself.
I AM STILL SEETHING!!! I am trying to determine my best response. Here are my choices: develop a neighborhood watch; write a letter to the neighbors in this subdivision not only warning them to be more secure but to let the perps know that they are being watched; or both. I'm going for both. I'VE HAD IT!
