Happy Birthday DH...NOT!!!

Do you all remember how my stereo got ripped off Dec 3? OMG, it happened again last night. This time they &%$@&*$% smashed my passenger side window. What is VERY disconcerting this time is that it happened at the heels of a vicious hail storm last night here in N. Texas.

Here's how we think it happened. The storm hit at about 10:00, pre spring-forward. Heavy, and I mean heavy, amounts of hail violently fell for a good 20 minutes. There was mounds of hail in our landscaping. Prior to he hail fall, I heard my car alarm go off during torrential rains. Dh went to the garage and pressed the trip button on my key ring to shut it off figuring the hellacious winds and rains tripped the alarm (not unusual). I then joined him downstairs at about 10:20 and the hail was full force. As I mentioned it went on for about 20 mins. After about 15 mins post storm, I wanted to assess any damage to my car so I opened the garage door and I saw my interior light on in my car. Baffled, I went further to investigate and saw the passenger door ajar and my window "down." I looked inside and the violators had ripped the interior of my dash out to get to my stereo.

There wasn't enough hail inside the car to indicate that this had been prior to the hail storm. This was definitely post hail storm or during the storm. (I think I just missed them.) I immediately called the police to have a report completed. While dh waited for the police, I got in his truck and drove around the neighborhood to find the little sh*ts who'd AGAIN violated us (we'd heard voices in our alley easeway down a few houses). Lo and behold, I found a little party gathering about 5 houses down...average age 19. My gut told me that these were likely the perps. I had a few choice words and told them that if they did this and I find out I'm prosecuting their sorry butts. I WAS LIVID!!!! I drove around the block again and more of the little sh*ts were out front, I noticed one guy imparticular wet and avoiding eye contact with me. I had a few more choice words. I drove around again and they were scattering like roaches with the light coming on in their expensive vehicles (brand new mitsubishi, brand new Ford 150 pickup) more than likely purchased by their parents who can't be bothered. Such typical well to do burb kids. I wrote down license plate numbers and makes of cars as fast I could. I then went back home to deal w/the police officer. He (the police officer) was shocked that this happened during the hail storm. We all feel certain it's a local, and I mean local, thieving ring. We were being cased and a window of opportunity presented itself.

I AM STILL SEETHING!!! I am trying to determine my best response. Here are my choices: develop a neighborhood watch; write a letter to the neighbors in this subdivision not only warning them to be more secure but to let the perps know that they are being watched; or both. I'm going for both. I'VE HAD IT!

Well, I feel better. We went to church and I was able to remember what's most important in life and those things have nothing to do with cars, stereos or smashed windows. The person or persons who have violated us will eventually get their just desserts and I will give this anger over to God and let him deal with the perps. That's the best I can do.

I love having my faith b/c it allows me the path to understanding. Thanks for letting me vent 1st thing this a.m. too. You guys are always here and I'm grateful for that. I love y'all!

Karen

I know exaclty how you feel. My DH car was broken into a year ago. He had box speakers a nice stereo and two amplifiers that were bolted to his back seat. They broke out the small back window after breaking the locks and stole everything including his cds. We knew who did it but there was no evidance. but like you said God will deal with them in the end. Take care and hope things get better. Jennifer

I'm sorry that happened to you! Our house has been vandalized a couple of times, and I hate that feeling you get; angry, violated, unsafe. I do have to say that whoever did it would have to be out of their mind to do it again! YGG for confronting those kids! I hope they find out who did it, and I hope that your dh had a good birthday otherwise.

That happened to me in MA one time. During a rain storm they robbed me! ARGH! I'm sorry this is a second time happening to you. I know how frustrated you must be!

Now, on a more personal note....let's not be the one who gets into altercations with hoodies, ok, lady Karen? *wink* You never know how aggressive they may become. Just be careful! XOXOX

Oh, Karen. That absolutely SUCKS!!!!!!!!! What are the cops doing? Are they tracking any of the cars plates you got?? I would follow up daily with the cops. And yes, absolutely start a neighborhood watch. You can probably work with the cops in setting up something like this. Have any other neighbors had problems?

We had a few car break-ins a few months ago and a cop came by to ask us if we knew/saw anything. Fortunately, we keep both cars in our garage. BTW, why isn't your car in the garage?? You've heard the "joke" about Americans related to this, haven't you? Only in America do people park their expensive cars outside so they can store their "junk" in their garage. LOL!!!

Hope you're feeling better today. Like I said, that totally sucks, and I can totally see myself doing something like you - driving around looking for the perps - all the while DH is embarrassed because I'm doing it!! LOL!!

Hope Chris had a happy birthday anyway!!

Take care, hon!

Love ya.

Sorry you were victimized, it sucks rocks. But I would think since you filed a report w/the police, the police would see its a pattern and put some guys on a neighborhood "beat." And provide someone to come speak to your neighborhood about ways to combat this type of theivery.

There are parts of our area that have these smash & grab incidents as well as having airbags stolen (airbags are expensives so fetch a lot on the black market). Also you might want to think about getting a removable stereo if that seems to be a target. I know it must feel like a violation but other than the things you can do to prevent another incident occurring there's not much else to do. Remember, what goes around comes around, and these guys will get what they deserve eventually.
