Hi all,

My 5.5 y/o ds is obsessed.

I had a similar problem with my daughter having a b-day party coming up and I wanted to make sure that her friends from school showed up. I volunteered one day for a school event and I really made myself known to the kids and their parents when they would come to drop off or pick up. It really made a difference, if you can find common ground with mom or dad or make their child happy by spending time with them, the rest should fall into place. You can also see who "Ds" really likes to play with at school and (more importantly) who you would want him to have a play date with. The other thing you might want to try is instead of asking for a play date, make it more specific, Can "Joey" go with "Ds" to Peter Piper Pizza this Saturday and invite the mom and any siblings they might have too. I wouldn't let "D" know that you invited anybody, I would just let him know about the fun time you planned with him and if know one shows up, he will never know. Keep trying eventually you will ask on the right day at the right time and "D" will finally get a play date. The nagging part I think comes with his age. Once he starts having some one on one playdates, I bet he will let you narrow the field down a bit on the party. I would also try to change the topic on him and get him excited about something else, like a movie that is coming out he really wants to see. I hope this helps little bit.
