HOMEWORK? In Kindergarten?

Okay, maybe I'm alone in this, but it really feels like my daughter (almost 6 now, but her birthday's in November, so she's still in K) has too much homework. At least 5 hours a week, but we're only given 3 days to do it, most of the time. Kindergarten has become so academic lately, and she's writing full sentences, doing copy and paste, writing letters, all kinds of things. She's even reading poems and such (although I think she's just memorizing them, for the most part.)

It just feels excessive. I know she can DO it, but the problem is finding time in the evenings to manage it on such short notice!

What kind of homework does your pre k/kindergartener do?

Mine doesn't start K til next fall, but her friend next door is in K and I know that there are many nights she will go to play for a little bit, but not very long because she has homework to do after dinner. I should ask her mom how much and how often she has it so I can prepare myself and Emma for next year.

I know, right? My kid seems like she has HOURS of homework... when I was a kid, it was fingerpainting and singalongs! I guess it's a good thing, but that's a LOT of work!
