Hi Melissa and welcome to the board. I'm Dawn, the community leader for the board. I'm a sahm, married for 19+ years with two kids. Philip is 9 and in the 4th grade. Lindsay is 5 and in kindergarten.

Looking forward to getting to know you and Colin better.

Three of my kids were advanced learners/readers, but my now 12yo ds was speech delayed and slow to learn his ABC's and numbers like your ds. My ds repeated kindy 'cus he struggled so much and couldn't retain the letters he'd learned. All of a sudden one day it "clicked," and he took off with learning. He's now in advanced classes. He's also a big bookworm. He always loved to be read TO, but he never really wanted to read on his own until we got him some comic books. He really started reading then.

My ds was (and is) always full of energy like your ds. I figure he was just so busy physically that it took longer for his brain to catch up with his body. His body and brain are working in sync better now. Hopefully that will be true for your ds, too!

My 5yo is my youngest dd. She's a "spirited" child but a lot of fun.
