Mom vs. Dad behaviors...

I have a question about my 5.5 y/o DS behavior when it comes to myself and my DH. While I am the more patient one of the two of us, DS seems to always behave better for me than he does for DH. I wonder if it has to only do with his patience level or if DS is really just fishing for attention of any kind from DH.

My DH is loving and is a great dad, but he has strict rules for our only son. I am more laid back and have fewer rules BECAUSE he's the only child.

Does this have anything to do with why he behaves so much more gentlemanly when it's just me around and why he's a monster when Dad is around?

You're a smart mom! =) It very well could be what you are thinking. It could also be the dynamics of their relationship. Does dad rough house with your son? That can add to it also. In addition to that, if he sees daddy treating mommy with respect, he will copy that. Children behave very differently for each of their parents, on the norm, and different parenting styles can add to that. Men, in general, are "sometimes" tougher on boys than on girls. They take pride in their son being strong, and have their own conceived notions on how to make them that way. *wink* Maybe dad is having talks with son on how to behave for mommy, and you don't even know it! LOL!
