Thought I would stop by since I now have a 4 year old. I have 4 kids and she is the baby so she's a mess, but a very good kid, just whiney, demanding, moody, etc...oh....that must be the female in her, lol...just kidding, but she does get it honestly. I haven't put her in school and don't plan to until she is 5, if I do then. We do learning at home and I have her in ballet. She had to take Valentines to her class Tuesday and she wrote her name on them by herself. She loves for me to read to her and we go to the library every other Tuesday before ballet class. She knows her ABC's, can count past 10, starts getting mixed up after that. I feel she knows what she needs to at her age. We just need to work on learning her letters and numbers and get her counting up so she can start reading simple words and do simple math...which I feel she can do simple math now. I would love to hear what you all are doing with your 4 year olds that I may need to do as well. Oh, we also love crafts and baking, she is a GREAT helper!!!

Hello and welcome to the board! It sounds like you have a very smart girl at home. I love that she is into baking and doing crafts. I'm sure you all have a lot of fun together. Again, welcome! I look forward to getting to know you better. :)

Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Bethany. My 4YO is Mara and we also have a 13 month old at home too. His name is Henry. Can't wait to get to know you better.
Some fun things Mara is doing now (and mind you, I think she's ahead of most of the kids in her preK class): She can write her first and last name, can write all letters upper and lower case with some help. She counts to 32 LOL not sure why 33 is so hard for her. It cracks me up every time. ;) But she's pretty clueless when it comes to simple math. She doesn't read anything yet, but can tell us what letters make which sounds so I don't think she's too far off from starting some sight words. Its a fun time!
We do lots of crafts at home. Painting, coloring, cutting. She's making a letter book right now. Example-the A page has a bunch of pics she's cut from magazines that start with the letter A. She gets to cut and glue which she loves and I get her to think about letter sounds, which I love. :) Oh and she does Gymnastics too. Fun!!

Thanks for the welcomes!! Looks like this is a really fun board. I love the picture book, I think we may try that. I try to work with my daughter in teaching her stuff, need to do it more so she can learn her alphabet better. She loves for us to read books over and over again so she can try to memorize them :) Looking forward to meeting you all.

Well now I just feel lazy. My four yr old son doesn't do anything like your girls do. He's a little far behind the rest of his age but he does knows his colors, some shapes and can count to twenty. He can't write his letters or name yet. He has a lot of trouble
