Dh had the day off so he picked ds5 up from Pre-K this morning...well on the way home...ds wanted to stop and buy gum but dh had to get home for an appt...so ds was upset and let dh have the brunt of it...and it was out of character for ds....so after being home awhile ...ds apologized to dh all by himself...it was so cute and so big of him....I was a proud Momma!He said that he was sorry for getting upset....such a sweet boy!

And are there any other kids having anxiety about Kindergarten? Ds seems a little unnerved...we have been reading books about k and we are going to tour the K program next week so I know that we are doing all the right things....any thing else?

Hi Lisa,

I posted my email address to you in my post, but here it is again Eichlerfan@yahoo.com.

Ryan is getting so big and I know how proud of him you are as you should be.

Sam hasn't said to much about starting K, but I know it's going to be hard for him. His best friend is moving to Chicago in June and all the other boys he goes to preschool with are going to private school. We were planing on sending him to the same private school, but things just aren't working out for as we hoped this year (life in Silicon Valley is pretty difficult these days). So off to public school for Sam. Thankfully the public school in our neighborhood is really good, but with CA's budget problems the schools will suffer. Sam is a very outgoing kid so I'm sure he will be fine, but I'm nervous about it. Not only is Sam starting K in the fall, but Lauren will be starting high school too. It should be a busy fall for us.

hugs....

Thanks Dana....didn't get the original post and had to go looking for this one,lol...this board is a real PIA,lol...not as warm as it used to be...maybe it is just me....anyways Ryan had his last day today...with a field day...no Graduation....which bummed me out...but oh well...his class was supposed to meet at a park this Friday for an informal Graduation Celebration but with all this rain we decided to go to a play place up the street...I think the kids will have a blast! So now onward and upward to kindergarten....

Congrats to Sam...I am looking forward to hearing how he does in the fall:)and I can't beleive that Lauren will be in high school...how are you feeling with that?

What great news! It really is sweet when they initiate conversations like that. The pride we get with things like that, huh?? =)

Tre is stressing over Kindergarten, too! I think he just thinks this is some major thing that he is nervous that he won't be able to hang, KWIM? I just keep telling him about the parts of Kindergarten that are the same as PREK. That way he can relate it to soomething he is familiar with, just different friends. He's been real clingy and such. I think part of it is Kindergarten stress, while the other is just growing into his "family." The association with his family is so prominant right now. I think he just wants to feel connected to kindergarten too, if that makes any sense. I keep telling him it will happen. I hope he believes me. Does any of this sound applicable to your situation??

Love,

Janet =)

Hi Janet...You know that I just wrote a post and then it disappeared, ugh...I must have clicked where I shouldn't have,lol...anyways....ITA....there shouldn't be any stress and I am certainly not giving any,lol....just reading books and talking about K..Ryan really felt at home at his school...he was there for 2 1/2 years so I can sse that he is feeling kind of sad...he will be going to a 4 day camp there in June so I know that will be exciting for him and we are touring the school next week....which should be a great thing...the K Center is great...it has a large open area that has play things and a lot of manipulatives...and then the classrooms branch off of the large room...I think once he sees the center he will be fine and then once summer really gets off the ground..and no more rain,lol...that is all we have been having and more for this weekend:( Oh well......Happy memorial Day!

Sounds like your ds was taught well... Gabby isn't upset about going to K, she is so excited. They went for 3 days, 1 hour/day for Kindergarten Orientation, it was a chance to meet the teachers. When my ds (now 8) started K, for about 2 weeks before he was up all night, bad dreams, trouble sleeping, etc. The day school started, he slept wonderfully that night. The nervousness is normal.

I think I'm okay with her going to high school, but I know the demands will be so much greater on her. I really do think she will be fine, a little shell shocked, but fine. However I still can't believe I have a 15yr old! How the heck did that happen? It seems like just yesterday she was four and Barney was her whole world. As you know the time goes bye really fast.
