PreK nap time question

Hi,

My 5 yr-old-son (he just turned 5) is going to PreK. He no longer naps at nap time anymore and as any active 5-yr-old boy, he is miserable when having to lie still doing nothing at nap time. I suggested a book but the teacher could not do that because then everyone will want a book and once they are done with 1 book, they want another one. The teacher suggested bringing a stuff animal but my son, unfortunately, is not into stuffed animal. He is great at doing quiet time at home but he does not have to lie still, he can move around in his room and play with his toys. Now he cries everyday not wanting to go to school because of nap time. Does anyone here have any suggestions in this situation?

TIA,
Natalie

Hi Natalie. How long is he suppose to stay laying down and quiet? Can the teacher either allow him to have his book after say 15, 20 minutes if he is still awake or allow him to get up and do something quiet (like color) at one of the tables? As someone with kids who gave up naps early I can sympathize with you and your son. It is boring to lie there if you are not tire.
