right or left handed?

Hello. This is my first time on this board. I was wondering if anyone here could give me some advise. My daughter just turned 4. She was in preschool last year and I am planning on sending her again this year. She seems to be doing great, the only concern I have is that she still uses both hands to write. She hasnt really choose a dominant hand yet. My husband is left handed (to write and eat, right handed for most other things) and I am right handed. She seems to do well with both, and I'm not sure whether to force her to use just one or not, and which one would I have her use? Her teacher suggested having her use just one, the left, but I really dont think I agree with her since she does so well with both. Does anyone else have a child that still uses switched between their right and left hand?? Any input would be greatly helpful, thanks in advance.

Hi I just found this board and saw your post, and I have an almost 4 year old with the same issues. I asked his preschool teachers last Spring and they told me that he'll figure it out when he wants. And that we shouldn't force the issue. Although my DH would love him to be a lefty like himself.

I have a 4 1/2 yo boy who still used both sides fairly equally. Both his ped and the director of his preschool said to leave him be, that he would choose when he was ready. its also possible that he's truly ambidextrous, which is uncommon but happens.

I personally think it its not broken, why fix it, so if she's happy and using both sides isn't hurting anything, leave it alone.

Hi - up until about 3 months ago, my DS also used both hands depending on what he was doing.
