Scratching and clawing, digging nails in?

In short my oldest is just about to turn 5.

That would not go over well in my house. I don't think its acceptable for any age.
See my post in "help i'm losing daily battles" A behavior chart may help. Also, maybe timeouts are not the answer for her. Removing special privilages or putting a beloved toy in timeout has done wonders for us.

This happens from time to time in my household, unfortunately. I happen to have a scratch on my wrist from the latest one from this weekend. Logan is 4 - and periodically acts extremely agressively when being punished. I haven't figured out a good approach to it, besides walking away... or in extreme times, holding his arms infront of him (crossed) until he calms down (if he won't stop hitting)
