Take DD to TV show auditions??

DHD is a member of a Hispanic organization through work. He hasn't been very active. But today he got an email from the president that KCPT (Kansas City Public Television) is looking for Hispanic children/children with Hispanic background, ages 4-10 for a new show, Bark Park Place. The goal of the show is to help children learn to read and it's imperative that they have a make-up of children living in the US. They haven't had many Hispanic kids audition.

They have an open audition - no acting experience necessary - next Wednesday, fortunately late in the day - 4-7pm since I work. The show will tape for 2 weeks this summer during the day. Although DH and I work, we might be able to get GM/GP to take her.

DD tends to be on the shy side, but once she warms up to things, she's fine. She certainly acts crazy at home. LOL! There is no pay involved with this, but it could be a good experience for her (that is, if she is chosen) and who knows where it could lead (not that I want her to become an actress of anything).

WWYD?!

Kathy, Alexandra (6/19/97) and Christian (12/22/99 - who, unfortunately, is too young, because he's our natural-born comedian)

Hi...My question is: Does she want to be involved in this type of thing (meaning the show)? Have you asked her what she thinks about it? If she said that she would like to try it, then take her. It never hurts to try something new. And, who knows, maybe she will like it and want to do more. Although it would not be a paying "job", it would be a great experience and great fun.

My son does modeling. And, although we live in an area where the work is very limited, he has got to do some fashion shows. Of course, no actual paying work yet, but that is ok. He is having alot of fun and getting some experience. My husband and I talked to him before we signed him up for modeling and asked what he thought. He was sooooo excited to try it. I guess my point is...if she is excited to go to the audition and wants to try for the show...GO FOR IT. If she seems not interested and would rather not...then that is ok too. Try to make it her decision. I hope this helped.

Good luck.

Sure if its not anything inconvenient for you, then what the heck? It might be a good experience for you both. Your dd can learn about the TV filming process and/or talent auditioning process. It might end up being not only fun but educational and if nothing happens then no great loss right? After all you don't have any expectations *wink*

Well, I spoke to DD last night about the show. I talked to her about Zoom and how the kids on that show have so much fun being on TV teaching other kids stuff. And said, "wouldn't it be fun to be on a show like that." She said, "no". I said, "wouldn't you like to be on a show like that and have fun doing neat stuff." She again said, "no". It was kind of funny how adamant she was about not being on TV.

Oh, well. It is totally up to her what she wants to do. No big deal.

I'd try it! If it doesn't go well, you can atleast say it was an opportunity you attempted! KWIM? I say go for it, Kathy!!!

Janet =)

PS Besides, America deserves to see your baby in action! *wink*
