Update on the Mother's Day Curse

Well, just thought I'd do an update on Joanne.

I drove down to Tucson on Monday of last week and picked her up. Luckily, we have great neighbors, and I was able to leave David and Sam with them while I went to pick her up. Other than that, she is in periodic pain, and has a frustration level of about 1000%. She feels completely helpless, and can only hobble around on crutches. She can't get outside to play with the boys, go swimming, or even drive, since it was her right ankle that was broken.

We go to see the Orthopedic surgeon referral tomorrow, and I'd guess that we will find out at that time what the prognosis is. I'm already betting it will be 4-7 months in a cast, and physical therapy afterwards.

And to make things, well, not worse, but different anyway, we ended up calling in the cavalry (her mom) to come live with us for an 'indefinite' period of time. The last time that happened, there was significant conflict between my wife and her mom, so hopefully THAT will not happen again.

Anyway, that's how things are here.

YUCK!! Poor Joanne. I hope she gets a better prognosis than expected. Sending lots of healing vibes her way. That's great that your MIL is willing to come help out. Hope it goes better than last time, though.

Take care!

And CONGRATULATIONS on the Spelling Bee champ. That's AWESOME!!!!! I'm glad he's doing so well. It looks like you all definitely made the right decision on K.

Poor Joanne indeed! And it's certainly not any fun for the rest of you either. May the recovery be MUCH less than you're anticipating.

Makes me glad I just fractured my elbow. It's a nuisance, but NOTHING on the scale that you are experiencing.

Huge hugs to you all...

Oh man! Poor Joanne! Sending tons of healing vibes her way and hoping her recovery is faster than expected! Hope things with MIL work out for the best while she's there helping.

Congratulations to David on the spelling-bee too! WTG, that's WAY COOL! Sounds like K was the right decision for you all! (I'm glad to hear that!)
