and wake up in the morning? I'm just curious to see if DS needs more sleep than most.

My dd is not 5 yet, she is 4.5 but she goes to bed pretty late, very often as late as 10-10:15 pm, and wakes up usually between 6:45 and 7:30 am. I worried for quite awhile that she wasn't getting enough sleep, but her pediatrician said not to worry at all unless she appears tired or cranky during the daytime :-)

My 5 yr old and almost 4 yr old go to bed by 8pm always. They wake up between 7 & 8 am. I have been happy with this because I actually have time to myself at night. Lately I've been letting them stay up later, since it is summer. So they get about 10 or 11 hours of sleep at night. When I went to a pre-kindergarten meeting one of the teacher's said 7:30 is the ideal bedtime for a kindergarten age child!

Thanks, it makes me feel better that others go to bed as early as Dyl. He really seems to do better with at least 11 hours of sleep, although esp. in the summer it's hard to get them in bed on time. I'm probably too consistant, but I it's for the best most of the time. I'm also glad your kindergarten teacher said that. Dyl starts this August and I think he'll be too exhausted to go to bed any later than that. Thanks again, Lisa

Tre is in bed by 7 every night. He gets up at 630 in the Am no matter what, so he really needs to be in bed that early.

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents, LOL!

My 2 year old goes to bed at 7pm and my 4.5 year old goes to bed at 8pm. They both get up between 6 and 7am. Their pediatrician said that a 4 year old needs at least 10 hours of sleep a night.

Well DS isn't quite 5 yet(not till 12/14) but befor school was out he would be in bed by 8:30-8:45 everynight and sleep till about 7-7:30. Now that school is out he is in bed usually by 9-10 and sleeps till 8-8:30---this is on a good week! With it lighter out later now and all the activities, it is very hard to keep the kids on a schedule!
