How old is too old for a stroller?

Ds is 4.5 and his gymnastics class is about 10 blocks away. He loves the class, but each week he throws a fit about walking there. I think he should be old enough to walk, but if it's going to affect his opinion of the class (meaning it's something he "has" to do instead of something he "likes" to do)-- it would diffuse the whole situation to just let him have his way and ride in the stroller.

What do you think? Should I keep insisting that he walks, or is he at an age that it's appropriate to still push him around when it's "far"? I don't want him to be lazy! TIA!

How about a wagon instead of the stroller? Ten blocks can be a long way for little legs and even further after they've been burning energy at a gymnastics class. I personally don't see a problem with a 4.5 yr old in the stroller but I don't think our son fit in his by that age not to mention it was already occupied by his sister. We did have a sit and stand stroller for awhile that we used or when she got older we would put them both in a little red wagon when we were out and about for a long period of time.

Good luck and post your decision.

I agree with a wagon. He can walk for a while and pull it himself, then when he gets tired you can pull him! It's a great compromise!
