Should we be having playdates?

I have a 1.5 year old who is in a mommy and me type class. We go once a week, usually 4x a month. Should we also be trying to schedule playdates with the other kids? I feel bad that my house is so small so I don't want the other mom(s) to feel like they are crowded. Do people care about that? Should I just ask to meet somewhere? Or is 1.5 too young for a playdate still?

Hmm, such a good question and quite frankly I still ask myself this and my LO is 3.5! But she is in day care/preschool full time (I work full-time). At 1.5, it is possibly a good idea to have play dates for both you and your lo. Thing is - that young - they really don't interact all that much, for fleeting moments they might but it is not necessarily to get them to "play" together, but maybe more for them to have new and different experiences - or even for them to be witness to how you play - and interact - with other kids, families etc - sort of super early learning for manners and kindness. It is tough for kids to learn all this stuff - so why not start early - but I wouldn't go overboard about play dates yet. As for if your house size - do not worry about that! I stressed so much about how clean my house would need to be or how special the activity would need to be for too long - that prevented me from even having playdates all together for too long. There are probably other mommy's who would love to meet you and get together with their kids, and they would just be happy for the invitation! It is super nice of you to even open up  your home for these types of things. But yeah - maybe do something more neutral like a play ground or kiddie activity thing for the first few- just so you can ease into it all. But what do I know - I didn't do a very good job of all of this - and still don't - but I do think about it a lot!
