My kids are past this age now (sniff) but I remember having trouble thinking of things that would be small enough to fit inside an egg that was not candy. Now, believe me, they still got a good bit of candy, but I was trying to get some variety in there too. One thing I did discover that worked out well, especially when they were toddlers, was cereal! I'd put in Fruit Loops, Cheerios, etc inside the egg and they loved it! Instant breakfast that morning too, LOL.

Any other ideas?

I know I am planning on putting fruit in my sons eggs. You could also do small veggies in the eggs as well. For the basket im basing it on the location we will be and his intrests now. So that means his basket will have sand and water toys\, crayons, coloring books, and bubbles.

In the actual eggs we do do a bit of candy because the kids don't get much candy during the regular week, but I also put in coins and we work on counting once they have them all opened.  The middle one's teacher is doing a math egg hunt and we have to send in eggs numbered 11-20 (at least my email was that, I am sure other parents are doing 1-10), along with little things in the eggs like erasers, bouncing balls, etc.

In baskets I always do outdoor stuff for the little ones, bubbles, new chalk, kites, etc.  The big one will get personal care products, which is what my mom did once we got older because we bought our own by then with our own money, so she'll get shampoo, conditioner, nail polish, lip balm, etc.

My MIL puts money in them. Not a lot a dollar in one some change in another. When my oldest was little he was really into trains so I got the bigger eggs and was able to fit some trains in there. Last year we did matchbox cars. i'm not sure what we will do for easter this year. My oldest won't be able to eat candy and to be honest all they care about is the jelly beans and I either end up eating the chocolate bunny during a moment of weekness or I toss it. Usually we do trinket toys but think we are probably going skip the basket and get them each a toy
