We did survive, we had a nice time overall. But yes, there is that sort of "start your engines" mentality about the whole season. I am not really sure if its harder or easier, I think it all depends on how many kids you have, family involved, etc. I think it seems a lot harder now than when I was a single mom with 1 DD, but now I have a DH, 2 more kids, a stepson, all stuff to coordinate around, it takes a lot of fun out of everything at times and makes it more stressful.

We are hosting 6 people (and we are 4).... so 10 for 5 days.

Oh wow! Good luck, it sounds like you have a plan in place though. Last year, FIL showed up at the house about a week before Thanksgiving with about 2 days notice to do some job seeking down here (union jobs in Michigan not going so well...), then DSS arrived for Thanksgiving the day before, and then MIL decided to come down for Thanksgiving also last minute. It caused me a LOT of stress as we have a very small house, not really room for that many people extra. It turned out okay, but by the end of Thanksgiving weekend, I was definitely ready for everyone to go home! LOL!

Halloween was good and I totally agree that it is the kick off to the rest of the holiday season. I think planning and doing things early is the best way to go about things. I love your plan about being done shopping by the end of November- it sure would free up a lot of stress! I don't think preparing gets harder as I get older. I'm becoming more organized the older I get and I think that helps!
