19 mo old won't leave clothes on!!!

I have a 19 month old that refuses to leave her diaper and clothes on. This is going on about week 3 and she started saying "potty, potty" so we put her on the big potty and she went so off we went to buy a potty chair and she'll go on it but of course she's only 19 months so many times she goes in her diaper (when it's miraculously on) or on the floor. I think she has now marked every single room in our home from tile to wood to carpet to rugs! I've had to change her crib bedding 3x last week b/c she took her clothes off after nap and you can imagine the mess that was made. At night we put her in her zip up sleeper and safety pin it so she can't unzip it and that works so I've started putting her back in her sleepers for nap time. But all other times, if there's a way, she takes off her clothes. I'm so beyond frazzled and exasperated b/c I'm cleaning up after her constantly or living my life in the bathroom right now and don't know what to do. I've tried putting the diaper on backwards, putting masking tape over the tabs, safety pinning her shirt to her pants, putting her only in onesies w/ pants. She gets out of it ALL! She's like Houdini!

Please help!! Can I realistically get her potty trained even tho sometimes she acts more interested in just exploring everything in the bathroom?! Yesterday I went to put her dirty clothes in the laundry which is just across the hall from the bathroom and I walked back in and somehow she had gotten in the sink (no clothes of course), had her brother's toothbrush hanging out of her mouth and was rubbing water on her feet. This in the span of less than 90 seconds as I left her sitting on the potty to walk into the laundry room! If she can't reallllly be potty trained, how long does this running around naked and soiling my house last? My other two never did any of this and I'm beyond words.....

Thanks,

Kathryn

Kathryn, Hi and welcome to the Real Advice:Toilet Teaching board.

If you feel that your DD is not ready for potty training you could try putting a onesie on backwards, that way it is harder for you DD to take off. On the other hard if you feel that you DD may be ready to start potty training, you could start with the naked method and have her sit on the potty every half hour to start, and if you don't see any progress by the third day take a break for a while and try again later. I hope that helps. Please keep us update don your DD progress.
