i am just so frustrated with my 4yo. she has been, well she was potty trained a year ago. for a while now EVERY time she has to go she starts peeing in her pants and will then finish in the toilet. i can send her to the bathroom to pee, she goes in with dry pants and comes out wet! she also wont just do her business in the bathroom, she spends forever(really like 30+ min if i don't chase her out) she just plays and doesn't go or goes and just plays before she washes her hands.

i have just had it! i don't know what to do any more...

would love some suggestions and advice please

she did just start preschool, but the problem started before preschool did. it has gotten worse since so maybe it is playing a part. i think mostly she is just being lazy.

she tells me she has to go and runs in the bathroom. sometimes i just catch her with wet undies and pants. there are little spots all over her mattress(she loves to play with toys on her bed) so it is obvious she just sits there and starts going while playing.

i do have toys in there that they use in the bath. maybe i'll start storing them more out of sight...

i like the get in and out in a minute for a reward, and i may just have to set a timer for her to go every so often no matter what.

thanks for responding, i hope it all works for her!

You can try putting vinyl underpants (like what goes over cloth diapers) over your dd regular underpants to help keep the wetness against her skin to make wetting herself a less pleasant experience.

Another thing you can try is to set a timer for how long your dd can be in the bathroom before she needs to come out done.

You can also try putting things in the toilet for your dd to pee on to make sitting and peeing more fun (cheerios, toilet targets, food coloring that will change colors when she pees on it, etc).

Good luck!
