Initiating

OK, so my daughter has been using the potty since the beginning of June. She has no issues with sitting on the potty to go pee or poop (though she tends to save poop for diaper wearing time during naps). However, she RARELY initiates going to the potty (ie. telling me she needs to go, or going to the potty herself).

Is there anything I can do to help her learn to inform me when she needs to be taken to the potty? She starts preschool in a few weeks, and I'm a bit concerned about her not informing when she needs to go.

Thanks!

Hi soozq.

initiating is the last step in the training proccess.

I would go with the naked method for awhile, this lets her know what is happening when she gets those feelings of needing to go.

once she understands the action with the feelings, she should be able to tell you or daycare when she needs to go.

I hope this helps.

Many Blessings.
