braydensmom912, Hi and welcome to the Toilet Teaching board.

Many people start potty training between the ages of 18-24 months. If you feel that your DS is ready then you could start many different ways. You can start with books and/or DVD's, many library's now have some to choose from. As for a potty chair or a seat insert for the potty, it depends on what your DS is comfortable with. My suggestion is take your DS to the store and pick out what he wants.

Most potty chairs/seats have a pee guard. If you start by telling your DS to make sure his pp is behind there it is good. Telling him what to do is going to help in the process, and of course having him go with your husband.

I hope this helps. Please keep us updated on your DS progress.

I agree with everything that Christina has mentioned and would like to add,Do not try to train him to stand to pee until he has the pooping down pat, once he learns to stand,it will slow down poop training a great deal.

I would recommend the naked method to start, let him run around the house naked for a couple of hours every morning(or when the time is best for you) and take him to pick out some thick cloth training pants and get about a dozen pair of plastic pants.

It does sound like he is in a very good frame of mind to start training.

Please keep us up-dated on what you try and his responses.

Many Blessings.
