Night training

Hello,

My Daughter just turned 3 this month and is pretty much pee trained except for naps and night time. I have been putting pull ups on her for them because she doesn't stay dry. We are still having trouble with the poop training...she will wait until night time when she gets her pajamas and pull ups on and THEN she will go in them. My question is..how do you night train? If I can do that, then I think I will have more success with her going to the potty all of the time and not waiting for her pull ups at night. How do we train her at night/naps?? Thanks!!

Well, this is a tough one because her bladder may not be ready for night training yet. Usually naps are tackled first. However, because she's relying in that pullup to poop in, you might want to try getting rid of it early. Or, at least going in there right after she goes to bed to try to "catch" her pooping in it, and get her in the potty. What you can try is having her in underwear. Be sure she goes potty right before bed. (And encourage her to poop by getting her to relax by reading a book or watching a video on the pot.) At 10pm before YOU go to bed, wake her to pee. Also, wake her a few minutes early in the AM before she pees in the 1/2 awake state. To make this easier, try layering waterproof sheets and regular sheets. If after a week, she's still wetting the bed, she's not ready. Wait 6 mos and try again. You might have to put the pullup on AFTER she goes to sleep so she doesn't rely on it to poop in.
