Not sure how to proceed?

My daughter is 2 years, 4 months. Over the past week or so she's expressed a lot of interest in using the potty.

Hello Sophie.

It sounds like she is doing great,as she has no problem with using the big toilet, stay there until she no longer needs the insert.

My suggestion is to start using thicker cloth training pants with plastic panties for a while, and use pull-ups for night and nap times only.

First thing in the morning, take off the pull-ups/diapers,clean her up and put on the cloth right away,as you have a pretty good idea of how long between trips, set the kitchen timer for that long, and have her at least sit on the potty for 5 minutes or unless she goes sooner, then reset.

Try these ideas and let us know how she does.

Many Blessings.

Sophie, Hi and welcome to the Toilet Teaching board.

Your DD sounds as though she is off to a good start. As for for DD using a potty seat insert, that is good, she is comfortable, if she doesn't want to use or has no interest a potty chair there is nothing wrong with that.

As for the part of her telling you she needs to go, that usually comes later on. One thing you could try is using a timer to remind her that it is time to stop what she is doing to use the potty. I hope that helps. Please keep us updated on your DD progress.
