My son is 3 years and 3 months old and is still in diapers and is showing no shows of being ready for potty training. Is there anyway to try and get him ready? I need him to be out of diapers soon. I feel like I need to force him into it but I know that is not a good idea. Please help...

Hello tysmom.

I take it at this age,you are using disposable diapers, they are just far to comfy.

Take him to the store and have him pick out three pair of his favorite charactor underpants, and you get him a half dozon pair of the thicker cloth training pants and a dozon pair of individual plastic pants.

Let him know, that as soon as he is finished with what he has left, you are not going to buy anymore and he is going to have to start wearing the cloth trainers with the plastic pants till he is ready to wear his big boy pants.

As he is so used to the disposables, the cloth should be

tysmom09, Hi and welcome to the Toilet Teaching board.

The previous poster had some great ideas. My suggestion would be to allow your DS to go around naked from the waist down. This way he can see what is happening and knows what is going on and gets to know what the feeling he gets when he needs to go. Another thing would be is to make a chart (small at first and get larger each time)to go to your DS favorite place store/restaurant/park, once he fills the chart he gets to go. You could even use small toys and work up to little bigger toys, if depends on what will motivate your DS. Sometimes finding the right method(s) and motivation can be the hardest part of potty learning. Please keep us updated on your DS progress.
