So I've read multiple posts of "my kid won't poop" and there always seems to be a reason for it. Well, I've tried everything.
I've treated it like nothing.
I've gotten mildly upset (mostly due to frustration).
I've offered treats, stickers, pennies.
I've put up a potty chart.
Larkin is 3 1/2 and she's happy to tell us "I hafta go potty!" Usually at the top of her lungs as if the fate of the world depends on it. She'll pee every time if I put her in undies, and she can stop herself if a few drops escape. I can ask her if she needs to pee at any time and she'll honestly tell me whether or not she really does.
We can't get around the poop obstacle.
She's not scared, and she's not pooping rocks. We empty her pull-ups and undies into the toilet and have her flush it. Whee, look at it spin, ha ha ha.
The problem we have is that she simply doesn't CARE. She'll insist to us that she doesn't have to poop. We'll sit her on the potty (once for an hour - she insisted on staying there), but as soon as she's up and dressed, she'll go in her diaper/undies. She doesn't hide in the corner, she'll do it wherever she happens to be. She won't tell us when she has to go, and doesn't often tell us if she has gone, and if she's busy when we find out, she'll protest because she doesn't want to stop playing. Most of the time if we ask her "Are you poopy?" she gets that evil grin and says "Yeah!" like it's the most amusing thing in the world. Sometimes she'll run from us when we tell her it's potty time, which she thinks is funny. We've offered her all sorts of things and she insists that NEXT time, she'll go on the potty. We tell her when she goes in her undies that we have to throw them out now, and she doesn't care. This has been going on for a few months now.
So can I pull my hair out yet, or am I totally missing something?
