ever since 18 months my son has showed a interest in the potty so since then i have had him in pull ups. he will pee on the potty but not every time . i want to buckle down and really get into the potty training i have 12 pairs of the cloth training pants but don't really know how to start i also have two dvds on potty training. he also tells me when he has pooped so he knows he has done that but don't or can't tell me before he does it. also he will ask even in stores and restaurants to use the potty and also at home he will ask. but that's not my problem.

i just separated from my spouse this year and he only sees his father every other weekend. but i/we want to potty train him I'm just not sure on how to do it. my son is know 27 months old

rosemama2007, Hi and welcome to the Toilet Teaching board.

The main thing with potty training is consistency. Do not use the pull ups (save them for use for when you leave the house). Pick a day and start watching the dvds with your DS, and start using the cloth training pants. Depending on your Ds, You could set up a rewards chart, or give your DS something small each time that he uses the potty. You can set a timer to remind your DS that it time to the potty. It just depends on how much motivation your DS needs. Some kids did great with small things each times, other need the motivation of earning something bigger over time, and other are relyy motivated with money. Finding the method(s) that will work best with your DS can take some time, do not let it get overwhelming. When you are starting a new method(s) if you do not see improvement within 3-5 days stop and take a break before trying again. I hope that helps. Please keep us updated on your DS progress.
