Training pants?

Hi, I'm just looking for a bit of advice. My 3 year old son started potty training last week, and is doing pretty well. He has stayed dry overnight a couple of times, and has peed in his Pull Up a couple of times.

During the day he wears regular underwear, so I'm wondering if the Pull Ups are too close to diapers to him, and a bit confusing. All that being said, I bought the plastic waterproof training pants, and I'm wondering if they are worn alone (they say "All in one"), over underwear, or over the thicker training pants underwear?

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Audrey, Hi and welcome to the Toilet Teaching board.

Pull ups are very much like underwear. They are fine to use for bedtime and/or nap time, just put them on right before bed, and take them off immediately after your DS wakes up. For night time there is a chemical that the body creates, so many children need diapers at night after being potty trained.

As for the plastic waterproof training pants, you can have your DS wear them over his regular underwear, over the thick training pants when going out. I think it would be very uncomfortable wearing them alone. I hope that helps. Please keep us updated on your DS progress.

Hello Audreylynn3.

I see you mentioned that the pants you bought are all-in-ones?,I believe Christina thought you ment the straight plastic pants.

The pull-ups are diapers, and the kids know it,as Christina mentioned, they are great for night and nap,but should not be worn during the day, they just give the children permission to use them as they would a diaper.

As I have found the all-in-ones to be quite exspensive,as they do not fit for very long,I prefer to use the regular plastic pants on over his thicker cloth training pants then to his big boy underpants as he gets better at staying dry.

I hope this helps,please keep us up-dated.

Many Blessings.
