Using public restrooms?

I'm clueless about what to do when my son Arden needs to go to the bathroom when we're out in public! He just turned 2.5 y/o so I decided to start on what I thought would be a long journey of getting him out of diapers.

Meghan, Hi and welcome to the Toilet Teaching board.

When you go out you way want to try using the thick training pants. There are also portable potty seats that fold up and end up about being five inches wide, and about 2 inches thick. There is also the option of a travel potty that goes in the back of your vehicle.

I remember the first time I took my DS out with just underwear I was a nervous wreck. I made sure I had two changes of clothes just in case, but I didn't need them, he did just fine.

Welcome Meghan.

Being afraid of the big potty is very common, you must remember,we do not see the bowl as being very high off the floor, but to a young child,it is a mile high.

As has been mentioned, the thicker cloth training pants will help and for your peace of mind, add a pair of separate plastic pants over them to help contain any accidents, and be sure to explain to him, that once he is capable of getting to the potty in time, you will take them off.

It certainly looks like he is well on his way to being diaper and accident free, just a few more steps to go.

Many Blessings.

Mac
