I am having a disagreement with my daughter's daycare, and I'm hoping I can get some feedback here.

My daughter (3+2m) can wipe well but if I am "coaching her"and only with a wet wipe, not with toilet paper. My son (25m), well, he does the whole thing on his own and doesn't even tell me about it till I smell something only to find a smear on the side of his bum or on the toilet seat - gross! For him, as I want to encourage independence, I put diaper cream on him (the thick overnight kind) after his bath. This leaves a barrier to 1) make wiping easier and 2) prevents rashes/irritation. Maybe you can just put cream on your DD till she perfects "wiping".

Like you, I'm shocked! I would consider that an advanced skill. It sounds like the teachers just don't want to be bothered.

(If you wanted a professional opinion, you could try posting on the "child health" board to get the pediatric doctor's opinion.)
