Hi everyone. I'm new to this board and a first time mom with a 22 month old daughter. She has been showing signs of being ready for potty training for about month now such as, holding her diaper when she

heather712007, Hi and welcome to the Toilet Teaching board.

My suggestion is to leave the potty chair out, and follow your DDs lead for now. Remind her that the potty is hers to use when she is ready. Many children show interest, and lose interest very quickly, but the interest returns. I hope that helps. Please keep us updated on your DD progress.

Thanks for the response! I did leave the potty out and my DD sat on it today again in her clothes. I took her diaper off and she sat on it for quite awhile. She didn't pee or anything but I'm hopeful now that she is regaining her interest in it. I will just have to be patient and follow her lead.

I could have written your post! When my son was about 22 months old he was going pretty consistanly throughout the day for about a week. He was doing great. However I was dumb & did not put him in underwear & continued to use the diapers. I feel IF I had went to undies at that time he would be trained, however I didn't. Now at 29 months, almost 30 months, he is still NOT trained. He started refusing to go at all.

So I stopped the training at that point as we were getting ready to move & bouncing between 2 states at the time. However he is now showing interest in pottying again, so Monday I am going to start & not look back! I really just wanted you to know you're not alone. I also wanted to share my experience as a mom. Maybe if she starts peeing in the potty again you can use underwear instead of diapers & she will feel like a big girl. I am really thinking IF I had done that he might have trained at that time. Anyhow, good luck! I hope all goes well for you!

Ok,first rule for this age, regulate the diapers for night time only, take them to the store with you and purchase a dozen pair of thicker cloth training pants and a dozen pair of plastic panties,(not all-in ones),

set the kitchen timer for every hour and race them to the potty when it goes off(they always win)lol.

I think you will find that the wet cloth will be a big deterrent and the plastic panties(that will leak if over full)and run down the legs, will help them understand that the potty is less trouble.

I hope this helps you get started.

Please let us know what you try and their responses.

many Blessings.
